Joint concert of the Serbian and the US Armed Forces
In the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club, Stanislav Binicki Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, a part of the Representative Orchestra of Serbian Armed Forces Guard and "Touch 'n' Go", the US Air Forces in Europe band have held a joint rock concert tonight.
The concert was opened with welcoming words of the US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott and Acting Assistant Minister of Defence Nenad Miloradovic.
Stressing that the concert itself, in a way, is a symbol of how it is possible to look ahead in harmony without being burdened by the past, Ambassador Scott also said that music is an international language of friendship that everyone understands.
- This concert is part of the cooperation between the two armies, which is getting better - Ambassador Scott said.
Assistant Minister Miloradovic pointed out that this was not for the first time that Binicki art ensemble had joint performance with bands of other armies – there have already been few of them, and soon there will be a similar concert with the Military Band of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia in Smederevo.
- We have the honour to host tonight the United States Air Forces in Europe band Touch 'n' Go. ' This has also been for the first time that our two military bands performed rock music together - Assistant Minister Miloradovic said.
Speaking about the choice of music genre for this concert, which is rock, he recalled that it was the music that has been a true cultural and sociological phenomenon intriguing generations for decades.
Indeed, the performance that followed showed all the power of rock music. First, the American band ignited the atmosphere, performing classic rock hits of the 1960s and 1970s of the last century, such as "I am Believer", "All Night Long", to the "Hard Day's Night" and "Hey Jude" by legendary Beatles. And then Binicki, supported by a part of Representative Orchestra of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, further raised the mood of the audience by performing old hits like "My Love Where Would You Be Now" as well as modern arrangements of our ethnic music, and "Everybody Needs Somebody" from the famous film "The Blues Brothers" thrilled the audience. The concert ended with performing popular songs.
On Friday and Saturday, the bands will hold two more such concerts in Nis and Novi Pazar.
