Continuation of defence cooperation with Poland



Signing the Plan of bilateral military cooperation between the defence ministries of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Poland at the Directorate for International Military Cooperation defined the basis for cooperation and activities for 2016.

Head of the International Military Cooperation Department Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac and the Polish Defence Attaché Colonel Zbigniew Rosinski agreed that cooperation in the field of defence was developed and that since 2012, when it was symbolic, it has recorded qualitative and quantitative progress, despite the unfavourable budget conditions.

Navy Captain Konjikovac said that the commitment for the development of cooperation in the field of defence has been best confirmed also by the meetings of the senior military officials. In addition to meetings of defence ministers and chiefs of defence, the continuity of bilateral defence consultations has also been significant for further defining the directions and making the cooperation more concrete.

He thanked for the support to the European integration of the Republic of Serbia, donation of items of military property of the Republic of Poland for the purpose of flood relief and restraint exhibited during the voting for the accession of the so-called "Kosovo" to UNESCO.

Colonel Rosinski emphasized his satisfaction with the level of the realised cooperation and expressed confidence that, given the potential, there is possibility for further development and improvement. As focal areas of cooperation he pointed out military education and an increasingly important cooperation between the joint operational commands, as well as cooperation in the field of operational standardization. The Polish side is ready for cooperation in the field of training and participation in multinational operations, as well as the exchange of experiences in the concept of battle groups of the European Union and cooperation with the European Defence Agency.
