Djordjevic and Bordyuzha on mutual cooperation

On the sidelines of the 5th Moscow Conference on International Security, Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic met today with the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Nikolayevich Bordyuzha.

Djordjevic and Bordyuzha discussed participation in peacekeeping operations and the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, which poses a serious threat at the global level.

Minister Djordjevic pointed out that the Republic of Serbia is committed to military neutrality, and also that it cooperates with NATO within the Partnership for Peace Programme.

- Serbia has no aspirations for NATO membership and that allows us, just like the CSTO member states, to be actively involved in regional and international security, Djordjevic said.

Djordjevic pointed out that the full membership of the European Union is the top foreign policy priority of Serbia, with simultaneous excellent relations with all partners around the world. In this sense, Serbia is trying to develop a good working partnership with the CSTO member states, which is particularly applicable to the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Armenia.

It was particularly stressed that Serbia has an autonomous and independent foreign policy, with respect to its own national interests, and that it will continue to be guided by these principles, particularly in relation to the current migrant crisis.
