Minister of Defence meets the Ambassador of Japan

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Japanese Ambassador to Belgrade Juichi Takahara discussed the possibilities for improving cooperation between the two countries in the defence field.

Minister Djordjevic and Ambassador Takahara concluded that Serbia and Japan have good relations with a trend towards improvement, which should influence the upward trend of defence cooperation. The Defence Minister believes that it would be significantly contributed by the signing of the Defence Cooperation Agreement, as well as the re-opening of the Japanese Defence Attaché’s Office in Belgrade.

Areas where they see the possibilities for cooperation are the exchange of experiences and training in military medicine, in the field of CBRN, peacekeeping operations, as well as the elimination of consequences of natural disasters.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Djordjevic expressed condolences to Ambassador Takahara on behalf of the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and himself personally, for the victims who perished during the recent earthquake in Japan.
