General Dikovic visits the Armed Forces of Belarus
The Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General LjubisaDikovichave talked in Minsk today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Major General Oleg AlekseevichBelokonev.
GeneralsDikovic andBelokonev discussed the current political and security situation in Europe and the world, the past and the upcoming bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Belarus and ways to improve that cooperation.
The Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff stressed that the most important activity that the armed forces of Serbia and Belarus should jointly implement this year isexercise "Slavic Brotherhood" in which the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are to participate as well. General Dikovic added that,for the Serbian Armed Forces, exercises, training and advancement are the most important areas of military-to-military cooperation.
General Dikovic offered his Belorussian counterpart that members of the Armed Forces of Belarus be trained at the CBRN Training Centre, the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations, Logistics Training Center and "South" Base.Also, General Dikovic thanked the host for the assistance thatBelarus has provided to Serbia during major floods in 2014. Then Belarus sent to Serbia two helicopters Mi-8, two rescue teams and two rescue boats.
Serbian and Belarusian delegations exchanged opinions on the continuation and improvement of military-technical and military-economic cooperation, especially in terms of maintaining both arms and military equipment of the Air Force and Air Defence, and the meansat disposalof the Army.
During his stay in Belarus, general Dikovic met with the Belarusian Defence Minister Lieutenant General Andrei AlekseyevichRavkovand Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security Vladimir Leonovich Senko.
The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forcesled by the Chief of General Staff laid a wreath at the monument-obelisk dedicated to the victims of the Great Patriotic War on Victory Square in Minsk, and during the visit they will make a tour of the 5th Special Purpose Independent Brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
