At this year's competitions for military schools, a total of 2,079 candidates applied for 295 slots in the Military Academy, MMA Faculty of Medicine, Secondary Military Vocational School and the Military High School, or seven on one place. Compared to the last year, 191 more candidates applied in the competitions.

For the MMA School of Medicine, which is the second higher education institution within the University of Defence, there is great interest of young people. A number of 180 applications arrived for 25 places at the Medical Faculty, which makes more than seven candidates to one slot.
The turnout of candidates for the Secondary Military Vocational School has increased compared to the previous year by almost two candidates in one place. A total of 237 candidates applied for 60 slots in the Secondary Military Vocational School.
The Military High School, has traditionally recorded the greatest attention compared to all military schools, and this year nearly nine candidates applied for one slot which is a total of 1056 applications. Like in the last two years, the same number of girls and boys applied on the competition for the Military High School.
The greatest interest in military schools is in southern Serbia, where the Regional Centre of the Ministry of Defence in Nis registered nearly 600 applications.
The competitions for military schools lasted from 15 February to 31 March. During the competitions, members of the military schools visited more than 20 cities across Serbia, where in direct contact with elementary school pupils and high school students they discussed the mode of education, living and working conditions and answered numerous questions of the interested children and their parents. Promotions in the cities of Serbia were attended by 3876 persons.
In Belgrade, the promotions of military schools were conducted in schools in some municipalities, and every Saturday the Military High School and Military Academy organized the Open Doors campaign.
