General Dikovic visited forces deployed to protect the border with the Republic of Bulgaria



Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, accompanied by Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic and Commander of the Third Brigade Brigadier General Mile Jelic, visited today the members of the Military Police who were deployed to protect the border with the Republic of Bulgaria.

After visiting Pirot barracks "Third Infantry Regiment", where members of the 3rd Battalion of the Military Police are accommodated, the border crossing Gradina and the centre of the Border Police Department in Dimitrovgrad, General Dikovic pointed out that in the past few days, members of the Serbian Armed Forces were engaged in support of the forces of the Ministry of Interior on securing the state border.

- We are here today with the Commander of the Border Police General Bozovic and Army Commander General Simovic to make sure that tasks are implemented in the field and we can be fully satisfied with what we have seen. Coordination was completed and tasks are carried out according to plan – the Chief of the General Staff said.

General Dikovic added that members of the Serbian Armed Forces are also engaged in Pirot on helping the Sector for Emergency Planning of the Ministry of Interior and the mitigation of consequences of natural disasters.

Assessing the engagement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in helping the members of the Ministry of Interior, General Milenko Bozovic said that in the last few days border police and military police patrols have been working on the protection of the state border and the first reports from the field show that the cooperation is very good and at a high professional level.

According to the Military Police platoon leader Captain Vladimir Cvetkovic, members of his platoon from the composition of the 3rd Battalion of the Military Police have been engaged at the border crossing "Gradina" in the task of assisting the MoI forces to protect a part of the state border.

- So far there were no problems, patrols are conducted according to plan; they are motorized and are performed with members of the border police – Captain Cvetkovic assessed.

Military Police members were given all the necessary authority to carry out this task together with the members of the MoI.
