Best wishes on the occasion of the Day of Intelligence Service

I congratulate to all members of the Intelligence Service on 5th March – the Day of the Service.

Continuing the tradition of more than a century, when on that day in 1884 the Regulation on general staff profession was adopted, which was for the first time in the modern Serbian state that an organizational unit of the army was established to deal exclusively with military intelligence, in the past year you showed the full necessity and justification of the existence of the intelligence service thanks to highly trained and professional personnel, good human resources, modernization of the system of data collection and processing and implementation of the European standards.

I congratulate you on your holiday which you celebrate for the first time on 5th March, with the desire that you keep solving the challenges ahead of you with equal success thus ensuring the stability of the defence system of the Republic of Serbia.

Best wishes on the occasion of the Day of the Military Intelligence Agency

I extend to all members of the Military Intelligence Agency my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 5th March – the Day of the Agency.

On that day in 1884 the Regulation on general staff profession was adopted, which was for the first time in the modern Serbian state that an organizational unit of the army dealing exclusively with military intelligence activities was established and the role of the general staff profession was defined, as well as the organization and scope of work of the Main General Staff, which consisted of three departments. Continuing the tradition of the Foreign Section of the Operations Department that studied the countries and the armies of the European and neighbouring countries, especially their organization, filling, composition, strength, deployment, education and organization, carrying out the tasks professionally, you have shown that you are a key factor of the intelligence – security system both of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and of the Republic of Serbia.

I wish you to further improve the work of the Agency in the forthcoming period, which I am sure you will manage, and I congratulate you on your holiday, which you are celebrating this year for the first time to commemorate the far 1844.
