Promotion of new PhDs of the University of Defence
Commencement ceremony for 16 PhDs of the University of Defence was held today at the Centre for Simulation and Distance Learning of the Military Academy. The PhD diplomas were conferred by Rector of the University Major-General Prof. Mladen Vuruna.
The ceremony held on the occasion of marking the Day of the University of Defence – 24 February and fifth year since the establishment, was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric, representatives of the University of Defence, Chiefs of the Military Academy and the MMA Faculty of Medicine, members of the Dissertation Committee and family members of the promoted PhDs.
General Vuruna said that from the titles of doctoral dissertations it can be concluded that, although the University is the youngest university, several areas were represented – socio-humanistic, technical and technological, natural-mathematical and medical.
- This is an important day for the University of Defence, for you PhDs and for military education. You should continue to work in this direction to help us to preserve military education at such a high quality level at which it is now, General Vuruna said.
Vice-rector for scientific and research activities of the University of Defence Prof. Mirjana Zivotic-Vanovic presented new PhDs and said that they, like many before them, had to pass several steps, from application to defence of their thesis, and the only real reward for that is passage of the finish line, or in other words the scientific achievement arose from their own research.
Those who received PhD degree are: Colonel Assistant Srdjan Starcevic from the MMA Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Clinic, lieutenant-colonels Radovan Milosevic from the MMA Urology Clinic, Miroslav Terzic from the Military Academy, assistant Goran Sijan from the MMA Plastic Surgery and Burns Clinic and Vladan Tadic from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also, majors Vlada Sokolovic from the Military Academy and Bratislav Dejanovic from VMC Karaburma, then captains Negovan Ivankovic from the Military Academy, Damir Projovic from the Military Academy, as well as MD Aleksandra Petkovic Curcin from the MMA Medical Research Institute, have received their PhD degrees today.
