Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the City of Belgrade

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Mayor of the City of Belgrade Sinisa Mali visited today with associates the Belgrade barracks "Vasa Carapic" where the runway was rebuilt which is currently used for storing vehicles under special escort for the purposes of the Ministerial Council of the OSCE.

- In this barracks, the City Belgrade made a runway to accommodate vehicles during the session of the OSCE, but it remains permanently to the Serbian Armed Forces, the Guard and Military Police Battalion for special purposes "Cobras" - Minister Gasic said. He thanked the City and the Mayor for taking the time and the ways to, after 50 years, also arrange the runway in the barracks, in addition to all tasks in arranging the capital.

- This is another good example of cooperation between the City and the Ministry of Defence. PUC "Belgrade Roads" has made this runway within just seven days - Mayor of Belgrade said, expressing hope that the runway will be only the beginning and that the Ministry of Defence and the City will work together in the future on projects in other capital's barracks as well.

In preparation for the Ministerial Council of the OSCE, all Belgrade utility companies are working at full capacity for Belgrade to prove to be a good host. At the barracks "Vasa Carapic", PUC "Belgrade Roads" paved the runway in dimensions of 60X30 meters, as well as access roads in the length of 100 meters.

Works in "Vasa Carapic" were necessary to allow unrestricted access to vehicles which during the session of the OSCE must be kept under special protection measures. The existing surface did not meet the conditions, and the Executive Committee for the organization of the Ministerial Summit of the OSCE, for the purposes of the conference, obliged the City to perform the reparation of the existing surface.
