The beginning of studies for 4th class of the High Security and Defence Studies
This year, 15 participants have been referred to the security and defence studies, including representatives of the ministries of defence, interior and justice, National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and four foreign participants – two officers from Algeria and Macedonia, and two participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On this occasion, Minister Gasic expressed his content for the opportunity to wish a successful beginning to participants of the highest level of training in the military educational system of our country, reminding of their significance when it comes to aspects of national security.
- All participants will have the opportunity to perceive the challenges faced by the security and defence systems in our country and the region. Moreover, they will be able to directly and without delay take measures to respond to the same challenges – Minister of Defence stressed, pointing out the importance of the fact that foreign members of armed forces are among the participants, because national and regional security depends on the high level of cooperation between international subjects.
Addressing the participants, Minister Gasic stated that the fact that they had been chosen for training at high security and defence studies represents a unique evaluation of their superiors, and the message that they can be counted on, that they respect their results, and that they believe that they can become leaders on a strategic level. He also stressed that the professors and lecturers at these studies gain a wider and more constructive role, as they are directly connected to the development of the security system.
According to Head of the National Defence School Colonel Miroslav Talijan, PhD, the level and the need for this form of further training, for high security and defence studies have resulted in having representatives of highest institutions of our country among the participants. He also expressed his belief that this class will reach, if not exceed, the results of the previous ones.
The High Security and Defence Studies (VSBO) are an organizational unit at the National defence School of the Military Academy where the fourth, highest level of further career training is organized yearly for officers, high state officials of ministries and agencies of the Government and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and participants from regional states.
The main goal of the High Security and Defence Studies is to provide education and preparation of participants for taking over high duties within the system of national security. The main focus is given to training participants for multidisciplinary analysis of contemporary security environment, assessment of long-term political security trends, development of elements of the policy of national security and cooperation with other systems of national security on a regional and a global level.
The training program includes 25 thematic contents grouped in three lesson fields, and lecturers are professors of the University of Defence and other Serbian universities.
