Physical model of MiG 21 aircraft installed in Krusevac
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic attended today the installation of a physical model of MiG 21 aircraft in Krusevac, which is a gift of the Armed Forces of Serbia.The manifestation was also attended by Mayor of Krusevac Dragi Nestorovic, members of the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces of Serbia, the City of Krusevac and numerous citizens.
Minister of Defence said that, eight months ago, before he had been appointed Minister of Defence, as a great admirer of the military, and a “man who loves his city where the future and the past have always intertwined”, he had started the initiative of opening a postament with MiG 21 in Krusevac.
- I am sure that the postament will bring joy to citizens of Krusevac and members of the Air Force and Air Defence that mark their Day on December 24. I am certain that this park will be a place where parents will bring their children and tell them about the Serbian soldier. The postament also represents a symbol of the new residential-business complex Airport and the symbol of a new Krusevac – Minister said.
According to him, just like Serbia is at a crossroad where “one road is made of the period of bad decisions, and the other one brings a better tomorrow and security”, the MiG is also at such a crossroad.
- I am certain that, at least in a symbolic way, this will be a good motive for us to move forward, bravely, without looking back. The military shares the fate of its people, and so, in the past period, we have also functioned in rather difficult working conditions. However, this did not stop us from achieving great results – Minister Gasic stressed.
As Minister stressed, in conducting their regular tasks and during and after the natural disasters, SAF members had stood by their people.
- December 24 is the day of members in blue uniforms. On this day, in 1912, the Military Minister Field Marshal Radomir Putnik proclaimed this day as the Day of the Air Force, of the eber honorable and dedicated members, those that conduct even the most difficult of tasks. I am certain that members of the Air Force and the Air Defence will maintain the highest level of quality in conducting assigned tasks and that we will successfully end the process of modernization of the Serbian aviation – Minister Gasic said.In his press statement, Minister of Defence said that one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia is to secure means for modernization of the aviation, and he also spoke about plans for the military airport “Ladjevci” near Kraljevo.
On the occasion of the Day of Air Defence, flight program was performed by pilots of the Armed Forces of Serbia in Super Galeb G 4 and Orao aircraft.
Today, Minister of Defence also visited the University of Krusevac, the City Theater and opened the Karadziceva Street.
