Signing of Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with France
Within the regular and planned activities of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Colonel Milan Konjikovac, Acting Chief of the Department for International Cooperation, received Lieutenant Colonel Olivier Rouanet, Defence Attaché of the French Republic.
Colonel Konjikovac expressed his satisfaction with the level of defence cooperation with the French Republic which, despite the restrictive budget policy, is characterized by a high percentage of executed activities. Cooperation is principally conducted in the field of military education, joint training and involvement in multinational operations under the auspices of the European Union and the military economic and scientific-technical cooperation.
Acting Chief of the Department for International Cooperation pointed out that the most important point of cooperation between the two countries is the involvement of teams of the Serbian Armed Forces in protecting ships in the multinational operations of the European Union and reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to continue the cooperation with France in that field. Considering the importance that the Ministry of Defence attaches to education, he expressed his hope that the good cooperation in the field of education will be enhanced in the forthcoming period, while existing capacities and interests of the two defence systems, to our mutual satisfaction, should enable the intensification of military economic cooperation.
Lieutenant Colonel Rouanet said that the quantity and quality of the executed activities indicate the importance that Serbia and France attach to defence cooperation. He reiterated the willingness of France to share its experiences in terms of security and defence aspects of joining the European Union, as well as involvement within its Common Security and Defence Policy.
At the end of the meeting they signed the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the French Republic for 2014.
