Cooperation between Serbia and Croatia in the field of defence
In the Department for International Military Cooperation, Colonel Milan Konjikovac, Acting Chief of the Department for International Military Cooperation, met with Colonel Ivan Jusic, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Croatia. They talked about the defence cooperation between the Ministries of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia and harmonization of the bilateral military cooperation plan for this year.
Both sides agreed that, despite the restrictive budgetary policies of both countries, cooperation in the past few years had a permanent upward trend. The cooperation is principally carried out through the exchange of experiences in the transformation of the armed forces, current participation in multinational operations in the areas of CBRN and logistics, as well as in the area of budgeting.
Both sides agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries were "the backbone of the region" and had a crucial impact on the security situation in the region. They expressed satisfaction with the established continuity of the high-level visits, and the plans for execution of joint exercises with a view to improving operational and functional capabilities of the armed forces.
Colonel Konjikovac conveyed the interest of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia in improving the military-educational and military-medical cooperation. They emphasized the openness of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia for the experience of the Republic of Croatia in the improvement of administrative capacities within the Common Security and Defence Policy.
Colonel Ivan Jusic, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Croatia, said that Croatia is willing to back Serbia in the process of European integration, by sharing its experiences concerning the activities in the field of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy, the projects of the European Defence Agency and the concept of the European Union Battle Groups.
At the end of the meeting colonels Konjikovac and Jusic signed the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2014.
