Chopin as an eternal inspiration
In the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club of the Serbian Armed Forces, within the Second International Belgrade Chopin Fest, a charity concert "Chopin as an inspiration" was held last night. In addition to comments on the character and work of the great composer, as well as the time in which he lived, an important segment of the festival is the impact of his music on later artists. The audience could therefore enjoy both in the Chopin’s compositions, and the music inspired by his work.
At the beginning of the programme, the guests were welcomed by Milenija Reljic, Director of the Festival, who explained the purpose of the event.
- We have gathered here to celebrate the character and the work of the great composer Frederic Chopin, but also to help a five-year-old Vuk Lojkovic, suffering from cerebral palsy. Charity donations from the sales of the brochure are intended for an aid in his treatment.
The audience was then addressed by Dagmara Lukovic, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland.
- I wish to thank you for giving this Saturday night to Chopin. We are also grateful to the organizers of this great event for enabling us to get together and enjoy the sounds of Chopin's music, and interesting arrangements of young authors.
Playing Chopin's compositions, with some original and some unusual arrangements, the performers were "Stanislav Binicki" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, conducted by maestro Pavle Medakovic, "Ingmar Piano Duo", "Magic" choir, Vuk Ovaskainen and Irena Josifovska (cello), Ivan Basic, Leo Borisavljevic, Momcilo Petrovic (students of the Faculty of Music), Ivan Martinovic Kundicevic and Vanjuska martinovic(duo violin and piano), Sanja Jancic and Tatjana Simonovic (duo cello and piano), Mileta and Snezana Stankovic (duo cello and piano) Quartet "Wonder string", "Mystic cello" quartet, "Mosaic" quartet, pop vocal Nevena Filipovic and Milovan Paunovic, Milan Dujmovic (guitar), and others.
