Minister of Defence meets Delegation of the Ministry of National Defence of Angola

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic met today with a delegation of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Angola, led by State Secretary for material resources and infrastructure General Salviano de Jesus Sequeira.

It was pointed out that the friendly relations between Serbia and Angola are an excellent basis for intensifying overall cooperation and the development of strategic partnership. The Republic of Serbia highly appreciates the principled support of Angola concerning the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

The Agreement on cooperation in the field of defence, which was approved by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia last year, should enable further development of cooperation between the two countries. It has been concluded that the key areas for the development are military economic, military educational and military medical cooperation.

"The Ministry of Defence, on behalf of the Serbian Government, supports the entry of Serbian companies to Angola, which were engaged in the construction of a military hospital and a pharmaceutical factory in Luanda and the reconstruction of Lubango airport", Minister Rodic said.

It was announced that in the next year the Ministry of Defence will open the Defence Attaché's Office of the Republic of Serbia in Luanda.

The Angolan delegation is on visit to our country due to the holding of the first sitting of the Serbian-Angolan Joint Committee on Cooperation in the Field of Defence.
