Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff visits Bosnia and Herzegovina
Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met today with Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Ante Jelec in Sarajevo.
Generals Dikovic and Jelec exchanged views on the current military cooperation of the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and directions for further improvements in the forthcoming period. During the meeting they discussed, first of all, education of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces, mutual cooperation in the field of training, military-technical cooperation and cooperation in establishing a system of monitoring and maintenance of ordnance in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was concluded that the Technical Overhaul Institute of Kragujevac may offer personnel training and technology transfer for testing chemical stability of powder and propellants in accordance with the highest international standards and the needs of the AF BiH, and that there is a mutual interest in continuing cooperation in the maintenance and disassembly of munitions in the workshop "Trom" in Doboj.
It was assesssed that Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have good cooperation in the defense field, where there is room for further improvement, and the main point of the future cooperation will be education and training of military personnel, military medical and military economic cooperation.
General Dikovic was received by the Minister of Defence Zekerijah Osmic. On this occasion, General Dikovic expressed firm commitment of Serbia to improve ties with its neighbours and active participation in regional cooperation and informed his interlocutor with the capacities of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces which they could share with countries in the region, such as the Defence University, CBRN Personnel Training Centre, "South" base, Technical Overhaul Institute in Kragujevac and centres for training of medical personnel.
During the visit, the Serbian delegation made a tour of the Operations centre AF BiH and Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Centre in Butmir where one officer of the Serbian Armed Forces is engaged as a lecturer.
