Delegation of the Ministry of Defence visits Slovenia



Delegation of the Ministry of Defence, headed by Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Miroslav Jovanovic, is in an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia.

On the first day of the visit the delegation had separate meetings with State Secretary Zoran Klemencic and Director General of the Directorate for Defence Policy Primoz Savc.

Jovanovic congratulated the State Secretary Klemencic on formation of the new Government, the management of the Ministry of Defence and on his appointment as State Secretary. He thanked Slovenia for the support provided to Serbia in European integration. Defence cooperation was assessed by both sides as very good, with the possibility of further improvement. Focal areas of cooperation are military education, military archives cooperation, training and participation in exercises, formation of NCO corps, CBRN, and Budget and Finance.

Invitation to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic to visit the Republic of Slovenia was repeated.

In the discussion with Savc, the agreement was reached that cooperation in the field of defence should be further qualitatively improved continuing with the high level visits. Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia supports the development of CBRN TC into a Partner Centre and the Kragujevac Technical Overhaul Facility (TRZ) into a regional explosive ordnance disposal centre.

Jovanovic has presented the organization and tasks of the Ministry of Defence and the Defence Policy Sector and briefed about the achieved level of defence reform and the priorities in the forthcoming period. There is agreement to revive the military economic cooperation. As possible areas of cooperation they highlighted military medicine and cooperation within the EU Common Security and Defence Policy.

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia was welcomed also by the newly appointed Minister of Defence of Slovenia Roman Jakic.

On the second day of the visit, it was planned to have talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia and visit the units of the Armed Forces of Slovenia intended to participate in multinational operations.
