Temporary Managing Board of the NCOS training held

Temporary Managing Board of the NCOS Training centre, which deals with the retraining of personnel with only secondary education, was held in the Directorate for Career Change in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the member states of the Nordic initiative which finances the project (Denmark, the Kingdom of Norway and Sweden).

The meeting was attended by Major General Sladjan Djordjevic, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Colonel Sladjan Ristic, Head of the Department for Tradition, Standards and Veterans, Lt. Col. Veselin Filipovic from the Directorate for Career Change, and donors, project managers from the Ministry of Defence of Denmark, Kirsten Hoepfner- Dahl and Manson Berit and Jakob Heradstveit from the Norwegian MoD.

Speaking about the success of the project so far, General Djordjevic said the activities would be crucial in the future.

Lieutenant Colonel Filipovic reminded that so far the project had implemented 14 training-retraining courses for 1103 persons from March 2007 to May 2012. He also pointed out that, due to high demand of users, the Department for International Military Cooperation sent a request to the Nordic Initiative for additional funding to continue the work of the Training Center, and that the realization of 15th training/retraining course would start in September. It was agreed that if there conditions allow it, the procedures for obtaining additional funding would be speeded up.

The representatives of the Nordic Initiative chose an independent Serbian evaluator before the meeting who will evaluate the Project to the end of 2012

At the meeting the results of the Directorate for Career Change were presented along with information on starting a new project to assist in recruiting and retraining of professional soldiers who have successfully performed professional military service at a minimum of 10 years and have fully implemented the agreement. This initiative has been supported by the Office of the SAF CHOD. This type of project would provide multiple positive effects and help to further popularize the military profession and therefore build a positive image of the Army of Serbia as well as rejuvenate staff as part of the professionalization of SAF.

The next meeting of the Temporary Managing Board of the NCOs Training Center will be held on 29 November 2012.
