Military cooperation with Norway

Bilateral military cooperation between the Defense Ministries of the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Serbia is intensive, and its continuation is expected to be conducted through high ranking visits, in the fields of military medicine, reforms of the security sector, military education, as was stressed today during the signing of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Agreement for 2011 by the Head of the International Security Directorate of the Norwegian MoD Kjersti Kalebo and the head of the Serbian MoD International Military Cooperation Department Milorad Peric.

Norway will continue to provide support to the activities of Serbia in regional initiatives and by providing financial help so Serbia can develop those capacities it offers to turn into regional centers.

Given the positive experiences both armies gained during their joint deployment in multinational peace support operation in Chad, both ministries are considering the possibility of redeploying both armies in a joint operation in another mission under UN auspices.

Ms. Kjersti Kalebo had separate meetings with the State Secretary of MoD Ms. Tanja Miscevic and dr Zoran Vesic, as well as with the Head of the Military Academy dr Mladen Vuruna and with the SAF GS representatives.
