Congratulatory message from Minister of Defence on the Serbian Armed Forces Day
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić sent a congratulatory message to members of the Serbian Armed Forces on 23rd April - the Serbian Armed Forces Day. The message reads as follows:
I would like to congratulate all members of the Serbian Armed Forces on 23rd April – the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
We celebrate the Serbian Armed Forces Day to commemorate the day when the Second Serbian Uprising was raised 210 years ago, and when, thanks to the engagement and good organisation of existing military resources, modern Serbia was finally liberated and recognised as a state with full powers and international legal subjectivity.
Through the struggle for freedom and independence, through all of the challenges and difficulties, the Serbian Armed Forces demonstrated their strength, courage, and loyalty to the homeland, serving as a symbol of the struggle for justice and the survival of the people, and reminding us of the strength of the tradition that we continue to follow today.
Today, we look proudly at the Serbian Armed Forces’ historical mission, but we also look responsibly to the future, where we are in the process of improving and developing a modern, equipped, and technologically advanced military force capable of responding to modern-day challenges. Over the last year, the Serbian Armed Forces have accomplished remarkable results. We are investing in the modernisation of arms and military equipment, as well as training and qualifying our units. We pay special attention on enhancing living and working conditions by consistently raising all personnel's living and working standards, as well as providing incentive conditions for service through care for their material situation and professional development.
On this day, I congratulate you on your holiday and jubilee, confident that you will continue to contribute to the development of the Serbian Armed Forces in the future, as our nation and its citizens rely on you.
