MoD, SAF members achieve notable results at Belgrade Marathon
Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces ran the 38th Belgrade Marathon today, achieving remarkable results. Sergeant Đuro Borbelj, a member of the Military Academy Sports Unit, won the title of the national marathon champion, as the best-placed runner from our country - he was the 10th runner to cross the finish line. With today's success, he managed to defend the title he won at the last year’s marathon. Tijana Kabić, a civilian employee of the Training Command, finished 11th in the Belgrade Marathon, winning the women's national vice-champion title. Captain 1st Class Nevena Jovanović, a member of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment "Kobre", came third in the 10 km run. The 72nd Special Operations Brigade team won the relay race, while the 63rd Parachute Brigade team finished second.
A total of 260 members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Military Academy cadets and students of the Military Grammar School and the 1300 Corporals Secondary Vocational Military School ran the marathon (42.195 km), half-marathon (21.97 km) and the 10 km race, achieving good results, and 240 MoD and SAF members participated in the organisation of the event. This year's Belgrade Marathon broke the record for the number of participants, with 14,000 runners from 74 countries on the streets of Belgrade.
