Training for PoC in peacekeeping operations

An international course on the protection of civilians (PoC) in peacekeeping operations, organized by the SAF Peacekeeping Operations Centre, was held at Base South this week.
The course was attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the United States of America and Türkiye.

Our centre provided the trainees with basic knowledge about the implementation of PoC mandates in UN peacekeeping operations and about standard operating procedures on how to effectively protect civilians and respond to situations when there is a direct threat to the lives of civilians.

The course was delivered by the Peacekeeping Operations Centre team of instructors and a visiting lecturer from a partner training centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This is the tenth time the international PoC course has been conducted at the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, which is certified to deliver such courses by the UN Integrated Training Service.

Courses like this strengthen the status of our centre as an internationally recognized institution for training individuals and units for participation in peacekeeping operations, while simultaneously reaffirming the commitment of the Serbian Armed Forces to taking all necessary steps to protect civilians.
