Training handlers, working dogs to protect military property
A course lasting several weeks is underway at the Dog Training Centre in Niš, whose aim is to teach military working dogs and handlers how to protect and guard facilities and mobile assets of the Serbian Armed Forces.

In accordance with the training program, the handlers use working dogs to carry out various exercises at the specialized training area within the Knjaz Mihailo Barracks, with the aim of building mutual trust and establishing absolute control and efficient dog handling during the execution of tasks. The main part of the course includes the practice of general dog handling skills, overcoming obstacles and doing exercises to improve dogs’ vigilance and response to various threats both in the daytime and at night.

Guard duty training is only one of many types of training offered by the Dog Training Centre — a SAF unit specializing in training, health care, breeding and reproduction of military working dogs, as well as in training and career development of veterinary service personnel, and it helps provide greater security to the property used by the Serbian Armed Forces.
