New issue of Odbrana

The March issue of Odbrana recalls the NATO aggression against our country, 26 years ago. The Editorial is dedicated to the heroic defence of our country, military and people, with special attention paid to the border guards. In addition, this issue also includes an article recounting the experiences of a war surgeon who speaks about the efforts of doctors to save the lives of the most seriously wounded soldiers during the defence against aggression, as well as a story of the ingenuity of Lieutenant Colonel Đorđe Ivanov (retd), a pilot and creator of a life-size model of the MiG-29 aircraft, which was used as a false target for NATO bombers in 1999.
The Standpoint section is dedicated to the Sector for Infrastructure and Hospitality Services, a new organizational unit of the Ministry of Defence, which was formed to help bring about a more efficient transformation of military institutions that are important to the defence system, and adapt them to the demands of modern times.

The System section focuses on the stories of cadets attending the Military Academy and the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy and students of the Military Grammar School and the "1300 Corporals" Secondary Vocational Military School who have embarked upon their responsible and honourable careers as officers and non-commissioned officers of the Serbian Armed Forces. Our journalists have visited several units of the Serbian Armed Forces during February, so this issue also contains articles focusing on regular training as a prerequisite for a strong military.

The Global section contains an article dedicated to the members of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment "Kobre", whose team was the most successful Serbian team at this year's Dubai Swat Challenge competition. In addition to them, members of the Serbian Gendarmerie and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of the Interior participated in the event.

On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the Military Academy, the Jubilee section presents the history of military education, while the History section contains the story of Allied forces’ medical missions in Serbia during the First World War.

The Culture section presents two exhibitions held at the Central Military Club.

This issue of Odbrana features an interview with RTS journalist Igor Topalović, this year’s winner of our Ivan Marković Journalism Award.
