Commissioning Ceremony for September 2024 Reserve Officers

A ceremony to mark the completion of the September 2024 Reserve Officer Course and the promotion of new reserve officers to the rank of second lieutenant was held today at the Military Academy.
The ceremony was attended by Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović, Head of the Logistics Department General Staff Mj. Gen. Srđan Petković, Rector of the Defence University Brig. Gen. Boban Đorović, Ph.D., Head of the Human Resources Department General Staff Brig. Gen. Slađan Hristov, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, families and friends of the newly promoted reserve officers.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a decree issued by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, was read, promoting the Reserve Officer Course graduates to the rank of second lieutenant.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Assistant Minister Radović presented wrist watches to top of the class course candidates – Miloš Jovanović (GPA 9.64), Miloš Silevski (GPA 9.56) and Maja Mijatović (GPA 9.55).

Congratulating the new second lieutenants on their officer ranks and addressing the audience, Assistant Minister for Human Resources said that “it was not necessary to impose any legal obligation to respond to the call of their homeland and military on these young people who are completing an important and special chapter in their lives and careers today, and who are going back to their families proudly wearing a well-deserved title of officer of the Serbian Armed Forces”.

- What made you put on the uniform of the glorious Serbian army was something much deeper, an important primordial obligation - a moral obligation. The one that is ingrained in our people’s character for whom the military and the people are inextricably linked, inseparable from each other throughout history - said Assistant Minister Radović.
According to him, today, the new reserve officers, who have come to the Military Academy as well brought up, educated and inspired academic citizens of the Republic of Serbia, are leaving it as well-trained and qualified officers of the Serbian Armed Forces.

- And just as you have shown with your actions and decisions that the armed forces can always count on you, so you should know that as of today, the military is your home, and the knowledge and experience you take with you from the Military Academy will be a reliable support in all the challenges awaiting you in your future lives - said Assistant Minister Radović.
Speaking on behalf of his class, the top-ranking graduate Miloš Jovanović addressed the audience, saying that during their military training they had learned a lot about tactics and weapons, but also about true values, such as patriotism, the strength of unity and being a pillar of homeland defence.

- We have learned that discipline and determination are the basic principles of every true soldier, but also that courage comes from a heart filled with love for the homeland. As we studied, practiced and sweated, one thing became clear - the uniform we wear is not just plain fabric, but a pledge. It symbolizes our readiness to be the first to defend what is sacred - our country, our family, our future - said Jovanović and emphasized that they had acquired the ability to respond to all challenges, risks and threats to our country and that the Serbian Armed Forces had acquired another well-trained generation of reserve officers.
