Gunners and drivers have completed training on the Miloš armoured multi-purpose combat vehicle at Base South, as part of preparations of an infantry company of the 1st Army Brigade for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). This training segment is one of the key steps in the unit’s preparation for deployment in the mission area using new vehicles, which as of this year will be used by the SAF contingent in UNIFIL instead of VPB M-86 military police combat vehicles.
Owing to its high mobility, integrated armament system, ballistic and anti-mine protection and cutting edge communication and optronics, the Miloš vehicle can be used for various tasks, including patrol and reconnaissance missions, as well as for providing support to Special Forces. In Lebanon, it will be used for patrolling, observation and force protection on the ground. In line with the training programme, the gunners and drivers have completed both theoretical and practical training in operating the vehicle in different types of terrain, practiced tactical manoeuvers and live fire using the vehicle’s integrated armament systems.
The next step is individual training for members of the infantry company, which includes practicing tactical procedures and learning the UN standard operating procedures, followed by collective unit training. By taking part in peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces contribute to building and preserving peace in the world, while simultaneously confirming their professionalism and ability to deploy forces and resources within a multinational framework. In addition to strengthening operational readiness and interoperability, missions like this also contribute to the development of international cooperation and build up our country’s reputation.
