Competition for enrolment in military schools launched
The Ministry of Defence has launched a competition for enrolment in military schools which will be open until March 31 and invites young people to apply.
This year’s competition envisages the following student enrolment: 240 future cadets at the Military Academy, 33 cadets at the Medical Faculty, Military Medical Academy, 110 students at the Military Grammar School - 80 at the general programme, 20 at the aviation programme, five to be enrolled in the second and another five to be enrolled in the third year within the general programme and 80 students at the "1,300 Corporals" Military Vocational High School.In the upcoming academic year 2025/2026, the Military Academy offers undergraduate academic studies with the following majors: Army, Military Aviation, Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Protection, Military Traffic Engineering and Defence Economics and Air Defence.
The MMA Medical Faculty offers two undergraduate courses - Integrated Academic Studies in Medicine and Integrated Academic Studies in Dental Medicine (currently going through accreditation process).
Young men and women born in 2003 or later are eligible for enrolment in undergraduate academic studies at the Military Academy, whereas those born in 2005 or later are eligible for enrolment in the MMA Medical Faculty. Another requirement for the enrolment in the Military Academy is that the applicants have finished a four-year high school, or that they are currently in their final year. One of the requirements for enrolment in the MMA Medical Faculty is that the applicants have finished a grammar school, a four-year medical or veterinarian vocational high school or that they are currently in their final year.
To apply for one of the following study programmes - Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Protection, Air Defence and Military Traffic Engineering, the applicants need to have finished a four-year technical or grammar school, or that they are currently attending the fourth year.
Candidates who wish to become cadets of the Military Aviation study programme have to meet additional criteria laid down in the special medical and psychological assessment programme for candidates applying for this study programme, and they have to successfully complete selective parachute and flight training.
Studies at the Military Academy have the structure of undergraduate academic studies, lasting for four years, which implies 240 ECTS credits. Upon completion of studies, the cadets acquire higher education degrees and professional titles.
Studies at the MMA Medical Faculty have the structure of integrated academic studies in medicine and dental medicine lasting for six years (12 semesters), granting 360 ECTS credits. Upon completion of studies, cadets acquire higher education degrees and progessional titles.
After completing their studies, the Military Academy cadets will be admitted to professional military service and promoted to second lieutenants of the corresponding branch or service, whereas the Medical Faculty graduates will be admitted to professional military service and promoted to medical service second lieutenants.
Boys and girls born in 2009 or later are eligible for enrolment in Belgrade’s Military Grammar School and "1,300 Corporals" Military Vocational High School. Those born in 2008 or later are eligible for enrolment in the second year, and those born in 2007 or later in the third year at the Military Grammar School.
The first phase of the selection process includes psychological and medical tests. During the second phase, the candidates who have successfully passed the first selection phase will undergo a physical fitness test, as well as a maths and Serbian language and literature tests. In addition, the candidates need to go through the security clearance process.
Candidates applying for the Aviation course at the Military Grammar School need to undergo additional psychological and medical examinations according to the special programme of the Aero Medical Institute.
Education at the Military Grammar School lasts for four years and uses the general curriculum for grammar schools in Serbia, which also includes specific military content. Once they finish school, the students are obligated to continue their education at the Military Academy.Candidates applying for the “1300 Corporals” Military Vocational High School must also go through the selection process divided into two phases - psychological and medical assessment and physical fitness, maths and physics tests.
Education at the “1300 Corporals” Military Vocational High School lasts for four years, and uses the Aero-Technical, Electronic Warfare, Telecommunications and IT, Air Defence Artillery and Airborne Early Warning course curricula. Once they finish the “1300 Corporals” Military Vocational High School, the students are admitted to the Serbian Armed Forces as professional non-commissioned officers in the rank of sergeant.
Throughout their schooling, the students will be provided with accommodation, food, textbooks and school supplies, clothing and footwear, health care and appropriate monthly payments in line with regulations governing the terms, rights and the amount of emoluments in the Ministry of Defence.Apart from excellent education, the Military Academy, MMA Medical Faculty, Military Grammar School, and “1300 Corporals” Military Vocational High School offer numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities, encouraging the development of talents and students’ and cadets’ interests.
