Ceremony to mark induction of 108 non-commissioned officers into professional NCO Corps

A ceremony to mark the induction of the attendees of the Basic NCO Course (25th Class) into professional NCO Corps and their promotion to the rank of sergeant was held today at the Guard Club in Belgrade.
A total of 108 sergeants have joined the ranks of professional NCO Corps.

The ceremony was attended by Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović, Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, Deputy Commander of the Training Command Brigadier General Nebojša Cvetković, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and family members and friends of the new non-commissioned officers.

Addressing the non-commissioned officers, General Janković told them to carry out all their tasks and responsibilities conscientiously and responsibly and to help improve the situation in their future units and build up the reputation of the Serbian Armed Forces.
  - Through your dedicated work, expertise and professionalism, and especially by personal example, strive to make sure that all assigned tasks are carried out responsibly, completely and safely. This is possible only if you continue to work on yourselves, improving your skills every day, transferring your knowledge to soldiers and younger co-workers. Learn from your older and more experienced colleagues, listen to your superiors and be their support, be cooperative and devoted to the unit, try to use your work and behaviour in such a way as to fulfil the task and build good interpersonal relations and strong teams - said General Janković.

He told them that, wherever they may live and work in the future, it is important that they be good friends and neighbours, respectable and esteemed citizens who will, with their attitudes and behaviour, promote the military profession in the best way and strengthen people’s trust in the Serbian Armed Forces.
  - Be proud descendants of your famous ancestors who, by defending the honour and freedom of the motherland, showed us which way to go. May the shining examples from our history encourage you to be persistent and unwavering in all situations you will find yourselves in - emphasized the Deputy Chief of the General Staff.

After the orders on the promotion to the rank of sergeant were read, General Janković presented awards to the best three Basic NCO Course graduates - first-ranked Sergeant Aleksandar Ilić, second-ranked Sergeant Jasmina Kosović and third-ranked Sergeant Nebojša Ibrahimović.

Addressing the audience on behalf of the 25th Class, the best in class, Sergeant Ilić, said that they had chosen to be worthy heirs of the great country they had inherited and its rich history.

- Through learning, we have developed and become stronger, striving to become the heroes of our time. For us, this is not just a promotion ceremony, but an honour and a challenge to continue improving ourselves and working with newly adopted and modernized weapons and equipment, thereby helping the Serbian Armed Forces to become stronger and stronger day by day. As of tomorrow we will be responsible for others, responsible of leading people, taking care of them and returning them safely to their families from every assignment. We will be able to fulfil that task successfully only if we are better every day than the previous one and if we have a higher goal - said Sergeant Ilić.
During their six-month training, the new NCOs were trained to command a group, team and squad, gained their first experiences in performing basic NCO duties, got acquainted with the tasks, responsibilities and organization of work in a squad, and in this way got fully prepared for the challenges awaiting them in their new jobs as leaders in the Serbian Armed Forces.
