Minister Gašić: Maximum protection for President
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić has stated that the president is at all times provided with the highest level of protection and that protection measures are altered based on needs assessments.
- This does not only include physical protection that the president gets from members of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment “Kobre”, but all other entities whose responsibility is to provide protection for the state’s top leadership – explained Minister Gašić.
Even though the President has maintained composure during the incident that occurred while he was travelling to Mokrin, the situation could have posed an objective threat to the life and health of our head of state, stressed Minister Gašić.
- The president is a brave man and has confidence in the people who protect him. They are top professionals, excellent drivers trained to react swiftly in complex situations, which they did in this particular situation as well. However, the situation we witnessed was not at all benign and the concern for the safety of the President of the Republic is totally justified - said Minister Gašić.
According to him, despite the fact that President Vučić has never put his own security first, the duty of all structures responsible for protecting him is to continue to perform their work in a responsible, dedicated and professional manner.
