Minister Gašić meets with German and Finnish ambassadors
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Anke Konrad, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Niklas Lindqvist, with whom he discussed the plans of the two embassies, which have jointly assumed the role as NATO Contact Point Embassies in the Republic of Serbia, over the next two years. At the meeting, Minister Gašić said that our side was open to further cooperation and dialogue with NATO at all levels, primarily aiming to preserve the security of the Serbian people living in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, but also to contribute to the preservation of peace at regional and global levels.
He told the ambassadors that “as a reliable and predictable partner, Serbia is completely dedicated and firmly committed to maintaining cooperation in areas of mutual interest under the Partnership for Peace Programme, which is a perfect framework for achieving security goals, in keeping with the policy of neutrality”. The Minister of Defence informed the ambassadors about the high degree of implementation of joint activities and other forms of cooperation in the past period. He emphasized the specificity and importance of the activities where the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces enhance their capacities and functional and operational capabilities, simultaneously improving interoperability with partner nations, of which the public is adequately, transparently and objectively informed. The German and Finnish ambassadors expressed their desire to contribute to strengthening the existing NATO-Serbia cooperation, including representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Serbian Armed Forces, academia, scientific community, and other representatives of civil society in the process.
