Today, members of the 4th Army Brigade celebrated the Unit Day at the 1st Infantry Regiment of Prince Miloš the Great Barracks in Vranje in memory of January 31, 1878, when the Serbian army liberated Vranje. As part of the celebrations, in front of the Brigade members standing in formation, key achievements in building operational capabilities were presented and awards were given to the most deserving individuals and units.
A display of weapons and military equipment was staged for the residents of Vranje and the surrounding area, and opportunities for getting employment as professional soldiers with the Army tank, mechanized and artillery units were presented. The review of results achieved over the past year highlighted further advancement in the acquisition and modernization of combat equipment, as well as the Brigade members’ professionalism and competence, which they demonstrated through the execution of all assigned tasks, primarily in joint exercises and along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, thus strengthening the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and the security of residents of this part of our country.
The ceremony was attended by Army Commander Lt. Gen. Milosav Simović, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces units, Serbian Orthodox Church, local self-government bodies, institutions collaborating with the Brigade and numerous guests. Today, members of the 4th Army Brigade also celebrated the unit’s feast day - Saint Athanasius the Great. On that occasion, the holy hierarchical liturgy was served by Military Bishop Dositej - the Vicar Bishop of the Serbian Patriarch and the Bishop of Lipljan.
