New automation system for efficient airspace control, protection
Members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade involved in work with the airspace control and protection force that is continuously engaged in monitoring and protecting the airspace of the Republic of Serbia are currently conducting training at the Airborne Warning and Control Centre.
They are training on the new SOVA 24 system that processes and displays the aerial situation and provides automatic control, a domestic, state-of-the-art product that entered service with the Serbian Armed Forces last December.
Target identification and tracking operators and computer technicians assigned to airborne warning and control centres are learning to operate the system. The operators are learning the procedures for collecting, processing and distributing radar data, while the computer technicians are practicing the system operation and basic maintenance.
The training is designed to improve the personnel’s skill in operating the new automation system, i.e. in performing airspace control and protection tasks in conjunction with other forces that work around the clock to ensure the safety of the Republic of Serbia.
By adopting the SOVA 24 system, the Serbian Armed Forces have reached the highest standards of airspace management, fighter control, providing direction for AD missile units and navigation assistance for aircraft in emergency situations. The system has proven to be extremely efficient in ensuring operations automation at the Brigade’s Airborne Warning and Control Centre.
