President Vučić attends annual briefing on situation and capabilities of Serbian Armed Forces in 2024



The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, attended today a meeting summarizing the annual review of the situation and operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in 2024, which was held at the Guard Club in Topčider.
According to President Vučić, the meeting has reviewed the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces, improvements in equipment and training, as well as future steps towards development and enhancement of defence capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. 

- We have discussed global security threats and challenges. I have also stressed the importance of international cooperation and participation in peacekeeping missions since it additionally contributes to strengthening our capabilities and reputation. The military is the pillar of our security and the pride of our country. We continue to modernize and develop our military, to invest in its equipment and people, because a strong military means a peaceful and safe future for Serbia - wrote President Vučić in his Instagram post.
  The meeting, chaired by General Mojsilović, discussed the security situation in Serbia and neighbouring countries, the conditions in which the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces are being built, as well as the situation and overall operational and functional capabilities of SAF units. Also, annual and medium-term priorities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces were determined.
 
Appreciation was expressed to the President of the Republic and the Serbian government for providing firm support for the strengthening of the Serbian Armed Forces, and it was emphasized that, over the past year, the capabilities of active-duty and reserve components, as well as the combat readiness of SAF units, have been improved, that the process of supplying them with new equipment has continued, and that all planned and extraordinary tasks have been completely fulfilled.
  The conclusion of the annual review meeting, which was attended by the most senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, is that the Serbian Armed Forces have the ability to perform tasks arising from all three of its missions, to defend the security and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and to be a factor of peace and stability in the country and the region.
