72nd Special Operations Brigade Day
A ceremony was held today at the Rastko Nemanjić Barracks in Pančevo to mark the 72nd Special Operations Brigade Day, which is celebrated on January 27 in memory of the unit’s first successful combat mission.
As part of the holiday celebrations, a ceremonial parade was held, key achievements in building combat readiness were presented, awards and certificates of appreciation were presented to deserving individuals and institutions, and wreaths were laid near the memorial to the fallen members of this elite SAF unit.
In the summary of results achieved over the past year, it was highlighted that the brigade members had maintained the highest level of training, professionalism and morale, and that supplying the unit with weapons and military equipment had continued at the highest standards, which had significantly improved the unit's ability to carry out specific tasks.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Affairs Department (J-2) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Brigadier General Dragan Arsenijević, former commanders of the unit, family members of the fallen brigade members, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces units, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, local self-government bodies, Ministry of the Interior, veteran associations and institutions the Brigade cooperates with.
Today, members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade observed the unit’s feast day – the Feast of Saint Sava – the first Serbian archbishop.
