14th Class commences Advanced Security and Defence Studies
A ceremony marking the beginning of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies for the 14th class that will be attending the course was held today at the lecture theatre of the “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” National Defence School in Belgrade.

- Security and defence tasks are classified as some of the most complex activities carried out by government apparatuses of modern states. Besides expectations that such high level training implies, the trainees are entrusted with the task of always being ready in their future work to act in the best interest of their countries, i.e. the national security system of the Republic of Serbia. The “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” National Defence School and the Defence University as a whole have the necessary capacity to provide quality education and training for officers and other students – said State Secretary Jelić.

Equipping the Serbian Armed Forces is a guarantee for the overall development of our country, he added.
- The primary purpose of equipping the military is to strengthen the security of all citizens of Serbia, and that is certainly the reason why they continue to trust it the most. On the other hand, we must not ignore the importance of developing human potential. Without man, we cannot expect a response to regional and global challenges and threats. We need capable and well-trained people, decision makers, officers, and this is where a concerted effort by the Defence University and its National Defence School and Serbia’s best scientific facilities and professors can contribute the most. If all state structures and national security actors unite in an effort to establish a unified defence and security policy, success is guaranteed – stressed State Secretary Jelić.
Addressing the 14th class, Acting Head of the National Defence School Colonel Zoran Jekić said that the Advanced Security and Defence Studies were the highest level of training in the military education system, and that they were interdisciplinary in nature.

The 14th class, consisting of 25 students, includes members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the National Assembly, the Government, government ministries, the Security and Information Agency, government institutions, as well as representatives of Republika Srpska and members of the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Arab Emirates and Namibia.
