Talks on National Action Plan for implementation of UNSC Resolution 1325
Head of the Office of the Minister of Defence Brig. Gen. Goran Momčilović and Tatjana Macura, Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women, spoke today about draft commitments for the third National Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, known as the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, in the Republic of Serbia.
The meeting highlighted the importance of the National Action Plan, considering the position of women in the context of contemporary security and other challenges, and discussed future cooperation on gender equality.
It was also emphasized at the meeting that the Ministry of Defence was in charge of drafting the said Plan, and that the document was extremely important, as testified by the fact that, besides the Ministry of Defence, numerous members of government bodies and representatives of civil society organizations and academic community were involved in the preparation thereof.
Also, it was concluded that in the previous period, significant work had been done to improve the position of women in the security system, and that the National Action Plan for the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1325 was of great importance for the further empowerment of women in the security sector.
