New integrated programme of studies in dental medicine at Medical Faculty, MMA

For the first time ever, the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy (MMA), Defence University, will enrol cadets and students in the integrated programme of academic studies in dental medicine in the next enrolment period - June 2025.
The accreditation of the new study programme aims to improve dental care in the context of the regeneration of garrison clinics, which are starting to gain importance with the reinstatement of compulsory military service.

Dean of the Medical Faculty, MMA, Prof. Sonja Marjanović, MD, Ph.D. says that this study programme is the only one in the region that provides combined dental and military education, and that this faculty is one of only two in Europe that train officers of the medical service corps in integrated academic studies.
  - In this regard, there is a great interest of foreign service members, to whom we pay special attention. We are already training cadets from Angola and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the faculty, and our door will be open for foreign cadets next school year as well. Previous practice was to admit to military service candidates who had previously obtained their degrees from civilian universities, and now, from year one, they are provided with full training as both officers and future doctors, i.e. dentists - says Prof. Marjanović and adds that this is a unique training opportunity for officers of the medical service corps.
According to her, the faculty is now organizing online preparation courses for prospective cadets planning to enrol in integrated academic studies in medicine and dental medicine. Information about this can be found on the institution's official website, so everyone who wants to enrol in the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy can apply in order to do thorough preparation courses for chemistry and biology, subjects that are a mandatory part of the entrance exam.
