New H-145M helicopter’s wide range of capabilities
The past year was characterized by equipping and strengthening the Air Force and Air Defence. Our Air Force was reinforced, among other things, with FK-3 and HQ-17AE air defence missile systems, and GM-400 and GM-200 radars. Also, the latest D3 version of the H-145M helicopter took an important place.
The H-145M multi-role helicopters, adopted by the 890th Mixed Helicopter Squadron "Pegazi”, 204th Air Brigade, have improved the ability to perform specific tasks such as reconnaissance, fire support, search and rescue and air transport.
According to Captain 1st Class Miloš Janković, a pilot of the 890th Squadron, the H-145M helicopter is designed to transport up to ten people and its combat version is used for aerial fire support, observation and terrain reconnaissance, as well as for Special Forces’ landing operations.
The helicopter is equipped with the most advanced optronic and navigation/attack systems that enable it to perform tasks in all weather conditions, by day and by night.
Captain Janković emphasizes that this aircraft is an improved version compared to the previous ones, given that it has five blades, reduced noise levels and a higher payload capacity. Also, he says, the adoption of this helicopter has significantly improved the quality of training, and due to the wide range of capabilities of this aircraft, the scope of tasks has increased.
— The importance of this aircraft is also reflected in the improved flight safety and the quality of aircrew training. The upgraded D3 version has five blades and a higher payload capacity, while the noise levels and overall weight of the aircraft have been reduced. Over the past year and a half, some of the Gazelle helicopter pilots and technicians have been trained abroad for this type of helicopter as well - says Captain Janković.
The maximum speed of the new H-145M helicopter is 278 km/h, the maximum flight altitude is 6,000 m, the maximum range is 630 km, and the payload capacity is 3,800 kg.
