New Year’s charitable event at Batajnica airport
The traditional New Year’s gift giving event for students with developmental disabilities was held today at the Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović military airport in Batajnica, with Santa Claus and good fairies flying in on a Serbian military plane.
The event has been organized by members of the 204th Air Brigade and members of the "Osmeh na dar" (Smile as a Gift) charity since 2011. The aim is to brighten the holiday season for protégés of institutions committed to promoting the rights of persons with developmental disabilities and their active involvement in all segments of social life, by giving them gifts, hanging out with them and taking photos together.
The protégés of the Belgrade-based association for assisting people with developmental disabilities – “Živimo zajedno” (We Live Together) and Pećinci-based association for assisting children and adults with developmental disabilities – “Razlikovnica”, welcomed with smiles on their faces Santa Claus and good fairies who arrived in a C-295 transport aircraft flown by the 138th Aviation Squadron and landed on the Batajnica airport apron. The protégés were then given the opportunity to enter the plane and spend some time with the crew.
Socializing with Santa Claus, the good fairies and event organizers continued in one of the 204th Air Brigade’s buildings where New Year’s packages were given to the students.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are actively involved in numerous charitable events, showing that they foster core military values and are always ready to provide assistance and support to the people in need.
