Inaugural Meeting of Joint Serbia-India Committee on Defence Cooperation



A delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, has visited the Republic of India, to attend the inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation between Serbia and India.
During the committee meeting and talks with the Indian delegation led by Joint Secretary for International Cooperation Vishwesh Negi, Assistant Minister Bandić emphasized the traditionally friendly relationship between the two countries and thanked India for its support for the territorial integrity and wholeness of the Republic of Serbia.

Secretary Negi expressed his delight at holding the first meeting of the Joint Committee and the opportunity to lay the foundations and exchange proposals for future defence cooperation, which will help to harmonize it with the overall good relations between the two countries.  
 
Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening the relations and making the defence cooperation more concrete in areas of mutual interest. Further steps were also agreed upon and the Indian side was invited to the second meeting of the Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation to be held in Belgrade.
 
During the visit, the MoD and SAF delegation had the chance to hold a meeting with representatives of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers, to explore the possibilities of intensifying military-economic and military-technical cooperation.
