Gathering with families of fallen members of Armed Forces
On the occasion of marking the Military Veterans Day, the Human Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the Association of Families of the Fallen in the Wars since 1990, has organised a gathering with families of the fallen members of the Armed Forces in Valjevo and Mionica today.
On this occasion, a memorial service for the fallen was served in the Lelić Monastery by military chaplain Major Nemanja Petrović.
After the memorial service, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and family members of the fallen members of the Armed Forces visited the memorials in Valjevo and laid wreaths to pay tribute to the national hero Stevan Filipović and Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović.
After that, they visited the birthplace of Field Marshal Živojin Mišić in the village of Struganik, and his monument on the plateau in front of the Municipal Assembly of Mionica, where they also laid a wreath.
Those present were received by the President of the Municipality of Mionica Boban Janković, to whom the President of the Association of Families of the Fallen in the Wars since 1990, Dobrila Koprivica, presented a letter of appreciation from the Association for Cherishing the Tradition of Remembering the Fallen Soldiers.
The gathering with the families of the fallen members of the Armed Forces was attended by the Head of the Department for Tradition, Standards and Veterans, Colonel Djordje Kalanj, PhD, Commander of the Second Training Centre, Colonel Saša Stojiljković, and Head of the Regional Centre of the Ministry of Defence Valjevo, Colonel Zoran Smiljanić.
Today's gathering is an act of preserving the memories of the fallen members of the Armed Forces and fostering relationship with their family members.
