‘Our Soldier, Our Hero’ contest open to all elementary school students
The Ministry of Defence traditionally invites all elementary school pupils and their teachers to participate in ‘Our Soldier, Our Hero’ contest and to win valuable prizes with creative works on the theme “The Second Serbian Uprising - 210 Years of the Serbian Armed Forces”.
The contest is organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education with the aim of promoting the military occupation and bringing traditional national values closer to elementary school pupils.
Students from the first to eighth grade who want to express their creativity and imagination can do so in one of three categories of artistic expression. Young admirers of the written word, in the “Serbian language” category, will be able to compete with a literary work – a poem or a prose text, talented painters in the “Art Culture” category can submit an art work in the technique of their choice, while elementary school students who choose the “Technics and Technology” category will have the opportunity to create a short video clip or model to best present their view of the given topic.
The Ministry of Defence has prepared valuable prizes for the winners of the contest and their teachers – first place will bring a prize stay in a military hotel on Tara, second place will receive a prize stay in a recreational military facility in Vrnjačka Banja, while third place will be awarded a stay in the ‘Morović’ Military Institution.
All participants in the contest must comply with the provisions that the work must be an original creation and must not infringe on the copyright or intellectual property of others.
Pupils who wish to participate in the contest must submit their works to their class or subject teachers by 21st February 2025. The teachers will select the best works, and after the selection is made, the selected works must be submitted no later than 7th March 2025 to the Department for Tradition, Standards and Veterans of the Human Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.
