Serbian Defence Minister meets with Kazakh counterpart
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Col. Gen. Ruslan Zhaksylykov, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
After playing the national anthems and a welcoming ceremony conducted by the Honour Guard, the two countries’ delegations held a meeting.
At the meeting, the 2025 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme was signed by Col. Zlatko Bogosavljević, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, and Col. Saragul Kazhatkyzy Abdikarim.
Minister Gašić welcomed Minister Zhaksylykov, expressing his delight at meeting the latter for the second time during his tenure as Minister of Defence.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Serbian Minister of Defence said that the relations between the two countries and nations were friendly and furthered by the excellent relations between the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
He said that Serbia was grateful to Kazakhstan for supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in all international institutions. According to Minister Gašić, Serbia is committed to the peaceful resolution of all issues through political dialogue with Priština, fully adhering to UNSCR 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement.
According to Minister Gašić, the defence cooperation between our two countries is very good and has a great potential to grow stronger. He particularly emphasized the fact that the two defence ministries had exchanged cooperation proposals for the upcoming period and that, as a result of mutual commitment, the 2025 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme had been signed.
The two ministers discussed potential cooperation in the fields of military economy, military to military collaboration, military education and military medicine, areas in which Serbia has considerable experience and in which mutual interest can be found.
Minister Zhaksylykov thanked Minister Gašić for the hospitality and the opportunity to discuss the aforementioned topics and emphasized that there was a mutual interest in broadening defence cooperation and raising it to a higher level.
