Military Film Centre “Zastava Film” marks its anniversary
Military Film Centre "Zastava Film", an organizational unit of the Public Relations Department, Ministry of Defence, marked its 76th work anniversary today.
The director of MFC "Zastava Film", Colonel Goran Ikonić, said that this film production company was one of the most important custodians of the Serbian cultural heritage, for which it had been awarded the Sretenje Order by the President of the Republic and numerous prestigious awards and recognitions.- The awards our films have received in big world festivals inspire us to create with even greater enthusiasm. I am proud of the results we have achieved in the last decade, and especially of the fact that we have managed to preserve this establishment. We have created works that will remain in history, we have filmed hundreds of participants in bygone wars and made films about our heroic brigades – said Colonel Ikonić.
According to the director of “Zastava Film”, the filming of a big project about the Priština Corps - “We are Commanded by our Fatherland” is underway and it will be the flagship of all the projects dealing with the topic of NATO aggression.- These are all large, historic projects that will remain a source of pride for "Zastava Film", our armed forces and our homeland. We have established cooperation with the most eminent cultural institutions, faculties, festivals, TV stations and filmmakers in the country, and we have also started our own YouTube channel where historians, nostalgics and other film lovers will be able to watch all the films “Zastava Film” has made from 1948 until today - said Colonel Ikonić, thanking everyone for helping this film production company earn and keep its place in the Serbian cinematography.
"Zastava Film" celebrates its anniversary in memory of November 14, 1948, when the Yugoslav Army Film Production Department was formed in Belgrade. "Zastava Film" got its current name in 1962, and from its first films until today, this film production company has been a faithful chronicler of military life events.
