Gun salute to mark Armistice Day



By order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard fired today a 10-gun salute from six artillery weapons at the Kalemegdan Terrace, to mark WWI Armistice Day.
The gun salute ceremony marking the upcoming national holiday was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović, Head of the Operations Department (J-3) General Staff Maj. Gen. Tiosav Janković, Head of the Health Department Brig. Gen. Radivoje Anđelković and Guard Commander Col. Željko Furundžić.
The Guard Orchestra played the national anthem of the Republic of Serbia while the national flag was being raised.

Serbia has celebrated the Armistice Day as a national holiday since 2012 in commemoration of November 11, 1918, when the Allied Powers signed an armistice with Germany, thus ending the First World War.
