Military Technical Institute Day marked
The Military Technical Institute Day and 76 years of its existence and work have been celebrated today at the “Žarkovo” barracks.
The ceremony was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Vukašin Grozdić, members of the collegium of the Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, associates of the Military Technical Institute and numerous guests.
Addressing those present and congratulating the Military Technical Institute Day, Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources Dr. Nenad Miloradović said that the Institute has been a source of technical innovations and a generator of modern technologies in the field of the defence industry of our country for 76 years.
- All these years, the Institute has been working on the development of weapons with the aim of making our army strong and our country safe and free. Thanks to the long-term, persistent and hard work of many generations of researchers, the Military Technical Institute has grown into a unique scientific and research institution in the field of defence technologies in this part of Europe. It is clear that the strict requirements of designing modern arms and military equipment can only be supported by the continuous development of scientific and research capacities - Miloradović said adding that the Ministry of Defence is making great efforts supporting the Military Technical Institute in building its scientific and research potential to integrate it to the greatest extent into the production of weapons of the domestic military industry.
Addressing those present , the Deputy Director of the Military Technical Institute, Colonel Assoc. Prof. Ivan Pokrajac said that today we can proudly say that the Military Technical Institute is the largest scientific and research institution in this part of Europe in the field of research and development of arms and military equipment and that it is the leading scientific and research institution in the Republic of Serbia in the field of defence technologies.
- Our goals are to maintain the status of the leading scientific and research institution in the country and the region in the field of defence technologies, to retain existing and attract new research staff, to improve the status of employees at the Military Technical Institute, to preserve and improve laboratory capacities, to optimize the number of projects in accordance with research capacities and to continue activities of adopting new technologies - Colonel Pokrajac said.
On the occasion of the MTI Day, Colonel Pokrajac presented the Institute’s Great Plaque to the companies “Milan Blagojević - Namenska a.d. Lucani”, HK “Krušik” from Valjevo and the company “Majkić d.o.o.” from Inđija for their exceptional contribution to the realisation of the Institute’s goals and objectives.
In recognition of their exceptional contribution to the realisation of the Institute’s goals and objectives, the “Archimedes” plaques were awarded to retired Colonel Miodrag Lisov, PhD, and posthumously to Dušan Ćurčić.
At today’s ceremony, letters of appreciation for cooperation were also presented to the Military Attorney General’s Office of the Ministry of Defence, the company EI Opek a.d. Niš, PPT-TMO a.d. Trstenik, Srboauto d.o.o. Belgrade and Pneumo-Logic d.o.o. Stara Pazova.
