Basic Parachute Training
Basic parachute training for soldiers performing their military service and young leaders recently appointed to entry-level positions at the 63rd Parachute Brigade is underway at the Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović Military Airport in Niš.
This is a mandatory part of the Brigade members’ training, which provides a professional basis for further advancement of their parachuting skills and ability to perform combat tasks using vertical manoeuvre. The training lasts four weeks, three weeks for ground training, and one week for practicing parachute jumps.
The ground training, which is mentally and physically demanding, focuses on handling parachute equipment, as well as on strenuous physical preparation, making sure that the trainees acquire necessary knowledge about the landing parachute and its equipment and master the basic parachuting techniques and emergency procedures.
The next phase involves performing parachute jumps during the day and night, with weapons and equipment, using modern landing parachutes.
Upon successful completion of basic parachute training, the trainees acquire the title of paratrooper, and the soldiers become eligible to become professional members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade after completing their military service, which is something that everyone in this class has already expressed interest in.
