Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces meets new KFOR Commander
Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, has talked today in Belgrade with KFOR Commander Major General Enrico Barduani.
During the first meeting between the two generals since the Italian general took over the duty of a commander of international forces in our province in the middle of this month, they discussed the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and joint activities of the Serbian Armwd Forces and KFOR.
General Mojsilović pointed out that, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement, as well as other signed agreements, KFOR is the only legitimate armed formation in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and asked the newly appointed commander of KFOR for the international forces to consistently and impartially carry out their mandate and, above all, protect Serbs and Serbian religious, cultural and historical heritage in the Province.
With the assessment that the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija is unstable and sensitive, he pointed out that the biggest threat to security is the unilateral and provocative moves of the Provisional Self-Government Institutions in Pristina, aimed at changing the ethnic structure in the north of the Province.
The Chief of General Staff congratulated General Barduani on his appointment to the new position and expressed his expectation that during his mandate at the head of the International Security Forces, the cooperation of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR will be professional and in the function of preserving peace and stability in the region.
