Minister Gašić meets with Ohio Adjutant General
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard, Maj. Gen. John Harris, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia. At the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further enhance cooperation.
Minister Gašić emphasized that Serbia “contributes actively to the preservation of stability and security in the region”, and that “it is determined to continue cultivating and strengthening relations with the United State of America, as an important partner, in all areas of mutual interest”.
He stressed that “the successful cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard, which has been maintained under the State Partnership Program for 18 years, contributes greatly to the relationship between Serbia and the United States of America “.
The Minister of Defence pointed out that the cooperation with the Ohio National Guard “helps strengthen the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and increases the level of interoperability, necessary for the participation of the Serbian Armed Forces’ members in peacekeeping operations aimed at safeguarding international peace”.
Ohio Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Harris assessed the existing cooperation as extremely successful and expressed a commitment to continue working on its improvement, expressing his deep appreciation of the professionalism of the Serbian Armed Forces’ members. Also, he added that a significant step forward had been made in terms of the Serbian Armed Forces’ competence and equipment.
The Ambassador of the United States of America to Serbia, H.E. Christopher Hill, was present at the meeting.
